Summer is here. . . as you may have read in my previous post, I was playing around with heart rate training. Did I mention summer is here? I live in the midwest. Hello humidity! Hello turtle pace. Last week, during lunch I went to the park, like I always do, for another heart rate run. This happened. . .
Umm. . . I officially declared hear training a bust. I had to go much slower than the previous week just due to the weather. I don't have time for this. I may not be able to continue lunch time running anyways. The weather makes it too hard to clean up post-run without a shower at work. So I only run during lunch when the weather is nice enough. But still. . . I am putting any more attempts at heart rate training on hold until the weather is better. It's hard enough keeping my HR at or below 148. I don't need the weather making it more challenging. I'd like to give this a fair chance, but it's just frustrating right now.
This weekend was a mixed bag. . . we didn't do anything special. The weather has kept my husband out of the field for a LONG time. If you had asked us back mid-April if he'd be done with planting by now, we'd have said yes with no hesitation. Then it rained almost non stop for a month, not allowing the field to dry out at all. He's finally been able to get some bean planted, but not much and we have a long way to go. . .
I took this picture when I stopped by the field to see how he was doing. This field is not at our home, so I had to help him move equipment here by picking him and bringing him back and forth. This is a 25 acre field and he was able to get it planted yesterday. He's trying to finish another field this morning, but the rain is on the way again.
Saturday and Sunday we did some gardening - planting flowers that is. We cleaned out flower beds, added new mulch and planted some flowers. I seem to either plant *no* flowers at all or I want to buy every flower I see. This year it's the "must buy all flowers" mentality. I planted 2 more pots this weekend just because I fell for some flowers and had to have them. I don't know if I posted much here, but I can't stand my "home". . . so some years I don't bother with the flower beds because in general I don't allow any one to come to my house. So no one sees them, so what's the point? It's a LOT of work watering all the flowers in the summer. But for some reason this year I got the itch.
I finished this wreath this weekend. This was flying around Facebook. As a result it was really hard to find all the supplies. All the red. white and blue bandanas were sold out everywhere. I hung it on the door, but we don't have a porch or any type of awning, so the sun will fade this over the summer. As a result it's now hanging on the *inside* of the door. I spent too much $ on this to let it fade, but I don't like it hanging inside. I should just give it to my mom. . .
I made a cake to take to my barn this weekend. I originally started making this in Christmas colors but have branched out for other holidays :)
And yesterday afternoon I hung out with my kitty boy - Pudding. Otherwise known as Puddy, Puddy McPoppers, Puddy Pop Pop . . . he's the last cat left of a litter of five that we had a year ago. I dont' know what's happening to my cats, but the two girls vanished fairly early on. Then I had three boys left. One went missing early in Oct and then we had two. . . they were best of friends. . . last week Wednesday the other one went missing. We searched high and low. I just don't know what's happening and it breaks my heart and I don't want to lose this kitty, as he's just so super friendly. But he's very lonely without his brother. It makes me so sad.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Easter Weekend
This weekend went by in the blink of an eye! Saturday we went to the outlet mall. We hit Under Armour first, as usual. We got some good deals. My husband got more than I did, but it's always hit or miss for one of us.
Sunday we went to my husband's mom's house. We did Easter with my family last weekend because that's when my brother had his son. (every other weekend ) But we started Sunday morning by getting up in time to run 5 miles. Like we set an alarm so we'd get up in time to get this done and be at my mother in law's house by 11 am. Who are we?!?! Like seriously! We set an alarm to go run. A few years ago I'd have laughed my butt off if someone told me we'd do this. In recent years this is something I would do. . . but now my husband is joining me. It's just amazing how much we've changed.
Again, in order to run "together" I speed up and my husband slows down. The previous 2 weekends, we've been at 10:40, so this was just a tad slower. It was just so fun though! We took a cute selfie afterwards.
I love the spring flowers :)
So we went to our Easter gathering. A fried of the family comes every year and she works at Walgreens. She gave our great-nephew a kite that she got on clearance for $0.19! It was a big hit and he was a pro kite flyer! He looks tall in this pic, but I believe he's about 7 years old. I think he turns 8 in July. I'm not sure. . . I can't keep up with the ages of all the kids.
I love that you can see that the kite is a turtle in this pic. Turtle Power!!!
After that we took my car to a mechanic friend to be worked on today. I won't get it back till tomorrow though. I had three lights coming on randomly. . . check engine, vehicle stability control and the traction light. . . a weird combo, but the point to the O2 sensors, so both are going to be replaced tomorrow.
I did better with eating this weekend. Last Sunday I was at my low for the year and the next day - bam! 2 pounds up! What?! Last weekend was that time of the month so I had that against me. It took me all week to get those pounds to budge.
Here I am today. Last Sunday I was 184.2. So pretty much a wash. I'd like to see the 170's sometime soon, but I know I"m not being strict enough on my eating. And yes that is Bachelor Ben in that photo. I had the People magazine in my bathroom! :)
Last but not least - I got a cat trap in the mail and I caught my cat!!!
Ha ha. Mr Blue is a sucker for a box. Put one on the ground and time him. . . he's in that sucker within 30 seconds flat!
Have a great week!

It's vet week and some random updates. . .
It's a week of veterinary madness! Tuesday my hubby took our three little outside kitty babies to the vet. Wednesday they got fixed. Yesterday morning he picked them up. We are so glad to have them home. Wednesday and Thursday mornings were so quiet. Usually when I leave I look for three crazy kitties running around in the cool morning playing with leaves and various other things that kitties think are toys. Even though they are outside kitties, their absence was felt and we were so glad to have them home.
This is Puddin'. Or sometimes it's Puddin' Pop or just Pudds (however you spell that!).
He looks so big in that photo without a frame of reference. But they are about 5 months old.
Yesterday I took my Sophie girl to the cardiologist for her checkup.
Sophie has been in heart failure for three years. Her prognosis was 6 months - 2 years. The vet called her a miracle kitty last night. It's been just over 9 months since her last visit. That was not necessarily good and was totally my fault. But she is remaining steady and only needed an increase in her potassium supplement. She gets a *lot* of pills every day to keep her alive. It makes traveling very very difficult. It's hard to find someone to pill your cat, much less to do it 3 times a day.
The week continues through this coming Wednesday when I take Eli to the University of Missouri in Columbia MO. He's been off in his neck since I returned from Canada. I had started to address it then I got sick. Since he's completely happy when not being ridden I let him chill while I focused on myself. But come Wednesday morning we will be loading up bright and early to start the trek to Columbia. Our appt is at 10 am and we are told it can take all day or longer. I'm already making a packing list - overnight bag just in case, food, drinks, snacks, phone chargers!
I'm fat. Yes you read that right. I'm gaining weight. Since I got sick and specifically since I was in the ER, I've been eating like crap. I knew it would catch up to me. But it took a while. When I gained 3 lbs I didn't panic. I was unable to exercise. I knew I'd gain some. No big deal. Just get well enough to run. But really I'm just being *bad*. I eat ice cream almost every day. Tuesday was National Ice Cream Cone Day. I got a cone from Sonic. I learned that Sonic was confused about what day to celebrate and they were having half price cones on Wednesday. I went back and got another on Wednesday.
I find some way to eat ice cream almost every day. Yesterday I got one of those M&M cookie sandwiches at the gas station. I have got to buckle down and get this under control. My weight this AM? 185.2 I was around 179 when I went to the ER. I know I was in the 170's when I saw my doc 2 days later. It's time to suck up and get back on the clean eating band wagon.

I figure by the end of the day Wednesday I'll be broke. It truly is a crazy vet week. Mr Blue is the only animal I own that isn't seeing the Dr. . . yet. . . .I better not jinx it.
So it's been 7 week since I got sick. . . I saw my doc this week. She said it's infectious and not autoimmune. She is still leaning toward Lyme. I replied that I didn't respond to antibiotics as quickly (if at all) as I should have. She said that was a good point. But then said what else would it be? I replied a virus. She said it lasted long and what virus? Well mono can last months. . . so that was my only response.
My pain level in my joints is almost none. The last two mornings I got up out of bed and stood on my BARE feet. No crocs. I've been wearing crocs in the house at all times, except the shower. It was so nice to be barefoot. Today and yesterday I wore normal shoes (not crocs!) to work. It was kind of weird . . . Wednesday evening I noticed my feet felt a LOT better and it was kind of a night and day difference. Like a switch was flipped.
However I still have vision issues. And now I have some dizzy type issues. I will feel like I'm on a boat. The world kind of tilts back and forth. So I'm not cured for sure. I just hope that these last two things go away. The vision shooters happen more than the dizzy and they are annoying. And of course both issues are worrisome :(
