Canada Trip

It's been a while eh?! :)

My trip to Canada was amazing, long, stressful, fun, exciting . . . and I came home sick.  Which is probably why I haven't written anything yet. I'm not even sure what to post or how to divide it all up.  There was just SO much.

Canadians are super friendly and I had no idea that was a stereotype that they lived up to.

The PanAm Games were crazy!  I'm really not sure if I'd do another honestly.  The equestrian stuff was an hour outside of Toronto where the main Games were held.  However, I heard there was venue 5 hours away, so we weren't the furthest removed.  We stayed in the basement of someone's house and that was very convenient as it was close to the main equestrian venue.  But what I didn't expect was the lackadaisical, nonchalant feeling at the venue.  First of all equestrian events were SOLD OUT.  Yet the stands were rarely over half full for the dressage competition.  For cross country. . . they sold out as well . . . all whopping 5,000 tickets!  Cross country day at Rolex KY boasts a whopping 30K++++   So this felt super duper tiny.  It was also a 2* (though they say a "hard" 2*) as opposed to the 4* of Rolex.  I'm so "used" to the environment at Rolex where the press people recognize each other that I wasn't prepared for the notification of camera equipment getting stolen at various press venues (not the equestrian venue that I know of).  So while the competition felt much more relaxed and not as important as it should have (due to lack of spectators) the media area felt more tense.  Taking your heavy camera equipment to the porta-potty with you because there isn't anyone in the media center you know to watch it is not fun.

Traveling with many people can get. . . complicated.  On the first day off from equestrian competition, we all ended up in downtown Toronto at the main media area for the WHOLE day which was not planned.  I was not happy about it and all in all it's a day I'd like to forget.  I had no way to leave so I  made the best of it.

In the "Panamania" area downtown there was an open courtyard area of food, a stage, some sponsors. . . it wasn't nearly as exciting as I expected and there wasn't much to do.  But here I am with Pachi - the mascot of the Games.  The number of quills (41) represent the # of countries competing at the Games.

It was in this Panamania area that I had my first Canadian beer.

I photographed gymnastics that day and will likely share some photos in another post.  It was super fun and challenging.  But again the whole day was way longer than I expected and I was unprepared for that. I'd have packed for the day differently.  Ending the day eating dinner @ McDonald's at 10 pm is not exactly the "Canadian" experience I wanted to have.  But moving on!

I did get to try Poutine - fries, gravy and cheese curds.

It's ok.  Not sure I like the flavor of the gravy.

I did get to try Ketchup chips! :)

They were shocking at first. I actually said "just drink the ketchup from the bottle".  But they grew on me.  I don't know why they aren't sold here. . .

I also got a red velvet oreo McFlurry from McD's.  Though it was not during that horrible day mentioned above.  It was yummy!

On cross country day, my husband was with me. . .  our lunch was corn in a cup.  We chose the Canadian flavor option.  It had maple syrup, dijon mustard and maple butter.  I cannot describe it.  It was actually *really* good.

I'll leave you with that for now.  I will make another post with some competition photos and another regarding our trip to Niagara Falls! :)

Binge

Oh man.  I had a crappy day yesterday.  I ate chocolate at work.  I ate a small bag of chips. . . the little tiny bags you can get at Dollar General. They used to be like 4/$1 but I don't think they are anymore.  Legitimately they are one serving.  Then after having a dispute with my husband, he went to work the fields and I went to McD's.

I got a cheeseburger happy meal with a large soda.  There were not enough fries in the happy meal.  Wow.  They are tiny servings.  I should got a regular value meal. lol!   I then proceeded to stuff my face with all kinds of chocolate at home after I ate this.   I also ate some icing when I decorated a cake that I made.  I had a pounding headache from the sugar on top of some crappy sinus headache that I had behind my eye all day.  It was fantastic.  I was up 0.8 lbs this morning.  183.0   I guess I should be thankful it wasn't any more.  But to be honest I could still go up tomorrow.  I need to be super good today and I'm really in a mood that isn't conducive to eating well.  I pretty much want to eat crap.  And I'm not sure why.  I don't know what's going on with me.  I generally don't really binge like I did yesterday.  And I have a goal to reach before Monday.  So I'm highly disappointed with myself.  I knew I was doing it and I kept shoving food in my face.  I have no excuses.  I just did it.

So today will be better.  I will make it better.   That's my goal.  I'm not perfect.  I never claimed to be.  But I've been rocking this lifestyle this year and I don't know what is happening right now.  Maybe the stall in my weight loss?  Even though I'm really happy with my progress, how I look, how my clothes fit.  . . how I feel!  I will get back on track.  My personal life has been rough and disappointing so maybe that's why.  Moving onward and back on track!

183.6

I think that is my highest weight in several months. :( I refuse to look so I won't be depressed. I'm just going to move on with my plans of no chocolate and candy. I'm going to drink lots of water and keep working out. My jeans still fit. I'm wearing a size 10 right now. . . that's a freaky thing as I generally can't fit into 10's but I have 2 pairs. They were snug when I bought them and they still are. So no real changes.

I forgot to do my fat % till I got to work. So it's not totally accurate but I'll mark it down as 29.3%. Again - UP UP UP. Blah! I forgot to do it this morning as I was too worried about packing the dang monitor cause a guy at work wanted to try it. I also had a bit of a spat with my hubby last night and slept on the couch. So I was out of sorts this morning. But. . . the couch is amazing! My hip and back don't hurt at all today! WOW!

I pigged out yesterday! I ate everything chocolate I could. I got my chocolate smoothie from starbucks. Which isn't terribly unhealthy, but I then proceeded to eat a McD's cheeseburger for dinner. By the time I got to my 6:00 photography class I felt like I could upchuck. :) When I got home I ate my 2 tiny slivers of king cake my hubby saved. I'm not sure how I spent $46 on a cake and only ended up with 2 tiny slivers while my MIL has half a cake at her house. Let's just say that started the little spat last night. See if I ever buy a freaking king cake from New Orleans again. Screw that!

So it's a new day. I'm fat. I have a session at the gym and hopefully all will be well.

Have a great day everyone!
